Denise C. Chase, M.Ed., C.E.O.
Chase Meadow Lane is the culmination of my lifelong passion for horses and riding, my love for teaching and learning, and my desire to bring people together. While living in Atlanta in 1997, I found the advertisement for "land suitable for horses" in the Atlanta Journal Constitution on April 1. No joke, thick oak and pine gave way to rolling fields and hills. There were no driveways, pastures nor buildings, save a 40 year old shed we still use. I helped design and build both my current residence and the 10 stall, 2 story barn which serves as my classroom. The farm is designed with safety in mind, providing excellent visibility of multiple equestrian activities conducted on ever-improving Chase Meadow Lane facilities and horses. I am delighted to share current responsibilities with my farm family. My staff is entirely comprised of my advanced students, who were chosen because of their competence, commitment and care. Students who embrace our system and methods and build on them with ongoing training provide outstanding role models for our new and rising equestrians. We remain committed to and motivated by our FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS and THE FARM. We have made many sacrifices, without any one of which we may not have made it this far. I am most grateful to our supporters who consider this their riding home! I hold a B.A. (1992) from Old Dominion University in Virginia, M.Ed.(2007) in Media and Instructional Technology. I have 9 teaching certificates. I would also like to build on my local judging experience to earn my "r" judge's card from the United States Equestrian Federation. I am proud to support a number of local, regional and national professional equestrian organizations, as a competitor, trainer, judge, sponsor, speaker, and spectator. My parents had a successful breeding, racing and raining stable for over 20 years. I learned much about horses and horse care growing up on the racetracks in the northeast with my parents' Standardbred racing stable. |
I studied in my mother's hometown of Friedberg, Germany at age 15, which I consider one of the best experiences of my life. I was delighted to return there with my son in 2008. In 1986, I was named New Jersey Equestrian of the Year by the Department of Agriculture, for my knowledge of the horse industry and its many breeds thriving in the Garden State. After 7 years in international business (ages 19-25) I pursued graduate work in Communication and taught at Georgia State University in Atlanta. The last 18 years have been a labor of love - of course, that's labor first! But love is seeing a novice rider develop into a lifelong equestrian, or CML alumni on college teams, mentoring young Maclay candidates, or a great. committed, competent staff. I also see a loving, kind, welcoming barn I am proud to call home. We don't just have great riders. We have great people!
